Interface groups from the datasheet's hardware table, drawn as a schematic. Grouped logically, not in physical port order. Not to scale and not a product photo. The datasheet's panel drawing labels four FortiLink ports on the 70G-POE; its hardware table (which we follow) says two FortiLink and two LAN.

FortiGate 70G price and part numbers

Every part number we would put on a quote for this model, grouped the way you buy: the box alone, the box with a security bundle, or a renewal for a box you already own. Terms are 1, 3 or 5 years.

No AC/DC split on the 70G: both variants run from an external AC adapter. The 70G-POE has its own bundle and renewal part numbers (G70GP); a 70G renewal SKU will not apply to a 70G-POE serial.

Source: Fortinet FortiGate / FortiWiFi 70G Series datasheet, FGFWF-70G-DAT-R10-20260929 (2026-09-29). Fortinet states all performance values as “up to”. IPS, application control, NGFW and threat protection are measured with logging enabled; NGFW with firewall, IPS and application control on; threat protection adds malware protection. IPsec uses AES256-SHA256. SSL inspection uses an average of HTTPS sessions across cipher suites.

SSL-VPN status. No SSL-VPN on the 70G. Fortinet's datasheet lists SSL-VPN throughput and users as N/A. Remote access is IPsec (IKEv2) or ZTNA. Fortinet: FortiOS 7.6.3 release notes. Background: FortiGate SSL-VPN migration.

FortiGate 70G vs 50G and 90G

The neighbouring models, compared on the same datasheet figures.

Against the 50G ($1,093 list), the 70G adds five gigabit ports (ten in total, two of them WAN), a PoE variant, slightly higher threat protection (1.3 Gbps against 1.1 Gbps) and twice the firewall throughput. Pick the 70G when the firewall is also the switch.

The 90G ($3,638 list) rates 2.2 Gbps threat protection and 4.5 Gbps IPS against 1.3 and 2.5 Gbps on the 70G, and adds two 10G shared-media WAN pairs. Move up when the circuit is above 1 Gbps, you run two circuits for SD-WAN, or the core switch uplinks at 10G. The 70G has more gigabit ports and a PoE option.

From the engineer

What we check before this model goes on a quote, from the engineer who sizes, stages and installs it.

What it replaces

Fortinet's Trade-Up eligibility is per serial number; we check your unit against the current Trade-Up matrix rather than publish a guessed mapping. See FortiGate end-of-life replacement. For a 60F still in service, we recommend the 70G for new purchases: the 60F is a 2 GB model and has already lost proxy-mode features and SSL-VPN in newer FortiOS releases. See the sizing guide.

HA pair

There is no dedicated HA port. Two identical units, two data ports each cabled directly between them as heartbeat links (Fortinet recommends at least two, with different priorities). That spends two of the ten ports on each box, so count ports before choosing HA. Each unit carries its own bundle; Fortinet does not share a FortiGuard subscription across an HA pair, and the current price list has no 70G HA SKU.

FortiManager onboarding

For a new site we create the unit in FortiManager as a model device keyed to its serial number and stage the config before it ships. When the box first reaches FortiManager it is linked and the config installs. For a replacement, the old config is converted, then interface mapping, removed features and policy cleanup are checked by hand before cutover.

Sizing caveats

Size to threat-protection throughput, not the 10 Gbps firewall figure. SSL deep inspection is the real ceiling: 1.4 Gbps, but only 715 new inspected sessions per second on the datasheet. If you plan to deep-inspect most traffic for 40+ users, look at the 90G. There is no local disk, so logs go to FortiAnalyzer, FortiAnalyzer Cloud ($330.60 per year list) or FortiGate Cloud; the 71G ($1,823 list) adds a 64 GB SSD.

Licensing gotchas

A bare FG-70G gets Fortinet's 1 year hardware coverage but only 90 days of firmware and ticket support. Buy a bundle or at least FortiCare. A 1-year UTP renewal lists at $771.40. Multi-year terms change the annualized cost; the quote shows the exact term and total list price. Fortinet auto-starts hardware-attached contracts 60 days after shipment in the US and Canada if they are not registered, so register on arrival.

Remote access

No SSL-VPN on this model (datasheet: N/A). Remote users should be planned on IPsec/IKEv2 or ZTNA; confirm client and FortiOS support for any TCP-encapsulated design before cutover. See FortiGate SSL-VPN migration.

Fortinet references for the notes above: Fortinet best practices: HA heartbeat interfaces; Fortinet Community: HA cluster license requirements; FortiManager administration guide: adding a model device by serial number; Fortinet service contract activation grace period policy; part numbers and list prices from the Fortinet Americas 2026 MidQ3 Price List.

How buying works

Exact part numbers

Every line on the quote is an exact Fortinet part number and term, sized to your circuit and the services you run. Your written quote confirms current pricing, tax and shipping.

Prepaid, drop-shipped

Payment clears before the distributor order. The unit ships from distribution to your site; freight is billed at actual cost.

Registered to you

Hardware and subscriptions go on your FortiCare account, not ours. Serials and contract dates are on the invoice.

Renewals tracked

We watch the expiry for every serial we sell and contact you at 120, 90, 60 and 30 days out.

FortiGate 70G questions

How much does a FortiGate 70G cost?

Fortinet list price is $1,562 for the appliance alone, $2,333.40 with 1 year of FortiCare Premium and UTP, $3,644.78 for 3 years and $4,840.45 for 5 years (price list effective 2026-09-07). Your quote confirms current pricing, tax and shipping.

What is the difference between the FG-70G and FG-70G-POE?

Both have ten gigabit copper ports and the same performance figures. On the 70G-POE, four of them supply PoE/+ from a 60 W budget (30 W max per port), leaving two plain LAN ports plus the two WAN and two FortiLink ports. The POE model lists at $1,982 and uses its own bundle and renewal part numbers.

Does the FortiGate 70G support SSL-VPN?

No. Fortinet's datasheet lists SSL-VPN as N/A for the 70G. Remote users should be planned on IPsec/IKEv2 or ZTNA; confirm client and FortiOS support for any TCP-encapsulated design before cutover. If you are moving from a model that ran SSL-VPN, plan the migration before cutover.

Is a 70G enough for 50 users?

Often. We size the 70G for roughly 20 to 50 users, but the circuit decides it: we want threat-protection throughput (1.3 Gbps) at or above about 70 percent of the internet speed with all profiles on. Heavy SSL inspection or a circuit above 1 Gbps points to the 90G.

Can two FortiGate 70Gs run as an HA pair?

Yes. The datasheet lists Active-Active, Active-Passive and Clustering. There is no dedicated HA port, so two data ports per unit become heartbeat links, and each unit needs its own bundle; the current price list has no 70G HA SKU.

Can I buy just the hardware?

Yes, but not with zero support. Every FortiGate we sell carries at least FortiCare, inside a bundle or as its own SKU ($220.40 per year list for FortiCare Premium on a 70G). Without it there is no firmware after 90 days.

What is the lead time for a FortiGate 70G?

We do not quote a standard lead time. It depends on Fortinet supply and distributor stock for the exact part number, so we check stock when we quote and confirm it on the quote.
